The Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) and the National Weather Service (NWS) have announced the observance of Severe Weather Awareness Week will be held February 1-5, 2010. Encouraging families to learn emergency preparedness and response procedures for all types of severe weather events is the goal of the observance with a daily focus on these topics:
Monday, Feb. 1 - Family Preparedness/NOAA Weather Radio
Tuesday, Feb. 2 - Thunderstorm Safety
Wednesday, Feb. 3 - Tornado Safety (Tornado Drill)
Thursday, Feb. 4 - Lightning Safety
Friday, Feb. 5 - Flooding (Alternate Drill Day)
