Greene County Board of Commissioners

Greene County Board of Commissioners

The Greene County Board of Commissioners is the county governing authority as provided by state law. It is vested with budget and taxing authority, ordinance-making authority, and control of county property, roads and facilities.

Greene County utilizes a Commission-Manager form of county government. Under this structure, the board of commissioners fills the primary policy making role and oversees the executive functions of the county, but it assigns the day-to-day duties of the executive role to an expert manager whom the board selects based on administrative qualifications and experience. The County Manager is granted substantial executive authority commensurate with primary (though not ultimate) executive responsibility.

The mailing address for the Board of Commissioners is:

1034 Silver Drive
Greensboro, Ga 30642
706-453-7716

The Greene County Board of Commissioners holds two meetings each month at this same address. Their Work Session is scheduled for the 2nd Tuesday of each month and their Business Session is scheduled for the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Both meetings begin at 6 p.m.
