[ARCHIVED] County Seeking Applicants for Board Positions

Board Positions Open Multiple

Board of Tax Assessors

The Board of Tax Assessors operates autonomously under state law as the agency responsible for determining taxability and establishing the fair market value of all real and personal property for taxation purposes. The Board is also responsible for notifying taxpayers when there are changes to the fair market value of their property. In addition, the Board receives, reviews and ensures the proper processing of all appeals, reviews all applications for exemptions, and approves or denies the applications and maintains all mapping.  They are not responsible for collecting taxes.  They meet on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 5:15 PM in the Lower Level Conference Room at 1034 Silver Drive in Greensboro. Members are required to successfully complete at least 40 hours of approved appraisal courses within 180 days of appointment and an additional 40 hours of training during each two calendar years of tenure.

Planning and Zoning Commission

The Planning and Zoning Commission evaluates and conducts public hearings on rezoning and variance requests. They do not make planning and zoning decisions but serve to make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners, which is the ultimate decision maker on these issues. The Planning and Zoning Commission meets the last Tuesday of the month at 4 PM in the Upper Level Conference Room at 1034 Silver Drive in Greensboro, unless otherwise posted.
