The 2026 Building Code Updates for the International Plumbing Code (IPC), International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPC), and the International Residential Code (IRC) are now effective as of January 1, 2026. These updates include significant changes from the 2018–2024 code editions that may directly impact design, permitting, inspections, and construction practices.

To help the community prepare, the Building and Zoning Office held a Communication Session on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, to review these changes for anyone interested.

All industry professionals are strongly encouraged to pay close attention to the significant revisions within the IRC, IPC, and ISPC, and to carefully review the published Georgia Amendments, which were pulled directly from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) website. Staying informed is essential to ensure compliance and avoid costly delays.
